This is the First American Edition of one of the most important nineteenth century accounts of African exploration. While exploring the Zambesi River, he discovered the famous Victoria Falls in November, 1855.
David Livingstone (1813 1873) was THE African explorer in the 19th century. Livingstone was active in Africa from the 1840s until his death in 1873 in what is today Zambia. He was very active in several major central African Christian missionary initiatives carried forward in the era of the European "Scramble for Africa".
