Even before becoming Mayor of Jerusalem, the City's
past intrigued me and over the years I have always
been interested in anything connected with Jerusalem:
maps, prints, books, travelogues, photographs, etc.
Thus, I was especially delighted to receive the 1819
invitation to the exhibition on Jerusalem, which I
am pleased to frame and hang in my office.
Mr. Eliezer Yapou of the Israel Embassy in Paris
wrote me that this invitation had come from you. It
is my pleasure to extend to you my warm thanks for your
kindness and to assure you that the invitation will be
