Lewis Carroll / Gwynedd M Hudson - Alice's adventures in Wonderland - 1922

Beautiful and interesting large format hardcover book, with gilt decorated blue cloth covers.
Published by Hodder and Stoughton for Boots Pure Drug Co. Ltd., London / Nottingham, 1922. The book shows no exact date, but since the Christmas gift inscription in the front is dated 1924, it must be an early edition.
Some antiquarians claim the blue cover edition to be the earliest Boots edition, others claim the red one to be the first published. No claims here, but this: the blue one is definitely harder to find.
Contains 12 tipped-in colour plates by Gwynedd M. Hudson, with printed tissue guards, along with numerous two-tone and monochrome illustrations. All plates are crisp and bright. The plate with the queen and king shows a small scratch on the left (see photo).
Some wear and tear to front and back covers covers, some fading to the spine. Slightly bumped corners.
Good bindings, no loose pages.
Pages are moderately tanned with noticeable foxing throughout and some staining.
All in all an attractive collector's item for Alice lovers.
