[Gaspard de Clermont-Tonnerre] à lui adressée - Belle Lettre Manuscrite sur Napoleon 1er , la Cour, la situation politique et militaire - 1813

The author writes to Gaspard de Clermont-Tonnerre, son of Gaspard-Paulin who fought in Condé's army.
Gaspard, however, fought in the Napoleonic armies, and was notably aide-de-camp for Joseph Bonaparte.

Paris, 10 October [1813]
".. je vous donnerai des détails militaires [de ce que j'ai entendu à Paris] mais comme ma lettre peut se perdre et tomber en des mains [mal] intentionnées je m'en abstiens.
L'Empereur est arrivé hier à St Cloud.. on a posé un cordon sur le Rhin mais ce cordon est faible . L'Empereur a peu ramené de troupes sur la frontière...
Les Suisses paraissent vouloir garder une neutralité armée.. on craint que les Autrichiens reviennent par Bale.. (nb: ce qu ils feront)..

" He then gives information on the French prisoners who had been freed.
.. Lauriston [prisoner in Leipzig] was not released, the Emperor of Russia did not want to consent, believing this general very useful to our emperor...

It was said that Bernadotte wrote a quite respectful letter to our Emperor urging him to renounce his universal monarchy system, which was impossible, etc.”
