Authorized Leo Castelli 1965 print of Roy Lichtenstein's Sweet Dreams Baby! POW! 15". The print is essentially perfect The are in comparison to recent great! offset poster reproductions of this image, This is not a cheap offset printed copy of this work. Leo Castelli, whose gallery was located on East 57th Street in NYC, was Lichtenstein's first major agent. This print is a 1965 Castelli authorized serigraph (the signed edition is sold for $50.000 and more...). That massive energy is what this picture is all about. about Roy Lichtenstein "Sweet Dreams Baby":

Sweet Dreams Baby... now, POW literally, 'in your face'. In the early 1960s, Lichtenstein was already obliterating gesture in his paintings, using magna, an early acrylic pigment, to paint areas of color smoothly .In 1969 Roy Lichtenstein (Castelli Gallery) was asked by Dumont to use this image (Sweet Dreams Baby was made as one of his early works in 1965) for there legendary Dumont Art Calendar in 1970 . the total Calendar edition was approx 500 (or less), So this Lichtenstein image "Sweet Dreams Baby"was used (together with art of Warhol / Wesselmann / Indiana / and other popart legends ) to publish an unsigned and unnumbered color Lithograph Calendar published by Dumont.

In that era publishers like Domberger, (art Calendars as from 1960ies ; Multiples (Banner Calendar) ; and Dumont were the leading Publishers for those kind of Art Calendars. For example a Banner Calendar is currently being sold for $5000 on lifeauctioneers !

Roy Lichtenstein one of the greatest Popart artist .he started to draw/paint very common objects (like a cartoon mickey) ." Sweet Dreams Baby" was one of his early works
