The books are uniformly bound in red half calf with green cloth boards and blue marble edges, bindings are rubbed and scuffed and a tad faded, cloth with minor marks to varying degrees. The joints are rubbed and scuffed, a few becoming tender but all sound. The spines are bright with scuffs to the head and foot ends.
Inside
Minor spotting to pastedowns and endpapers, small bookseller's sticker to rear pastedown to each volume, volume 10 lacking front endpapers.
The volumes are in great condition, the odd minimal mark here and there, minor offsetting where the guard sheet is missing. All volumes are tightly bound, all plates are bright, clean and without any rips or tears. The set is without any inscriptions, but volume six does have a bookplate to front pastedown.
A scarce set in this condition, which is complete with 146 colour plates and numerous wood engravings in text.
