In June 1962, the fashion magazine Vogue commissioned photographer Bert Stern with a series of photographs of actress Marilyn Monroe. She had withdrawn from the media during the year due to her mental health problems and had been fired from the film production of Somethings Got To Give the same month.
Stern, who had met Monroe once in 1955, carried out the three-day photo session with her alone in Bungalow 264 of the Bel-Air Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
The photo series remains one of Monroe's most extensive ones with a total of 2571 images and it was not until 1992 that all the recordings were released with the title The Complete Last Sitting.
