Rare book of a founding text admired and reworked by Jean De La Fontaine for his fables in the 18th century. An identical book is kept in his museum at the Chateau Thierry (France).

Ex Libris: collection of old books belonging to Paul Pierre Broca (born on 28 June 1824 in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande and died on 9 July 1880 in Paris). He was a French physician, anatomist and anthropologist. Broca’s name has remained connected to a form of aphasia that he accurately described in 1861. He became professor of surgical pathology at the University of Paris and a renowned medical researcher in several fields. At the age of twenty, he was already covered in medals and awards. His first scientific work focused on the histology of cartilage and bones, but he also studied cancer, aneurysm, infant mortality. His neuroanatomy work has contributed to a better understanding of the limbic system and rhinencephalon. A hard worker, he wrote hundreds of books and articles. He also sought to improve health care for the poor by supporting public assistance. His students include Paul Topinard and Joseph Deniker.
