Folio (32 x 23 cm). Complete set of two volumes, each with his own title-page. Volume One: XL, pages 1 to 996, XVI. 15 sheets. Volume Two: pages 997 to 1931. 10 plates. Guideline for the placement of the plates at the end of each volume. Spectacular original binding of the publisher in editorial cloth, with title stamped in gold and the spine in leather. The spines are scratched but the covers are in an impeccable state of conservation, like new, and preserving all the brilliance of gold.

Francisco Pi y Margall (Barcelona, April 29, 1824-Madrid, November 29, 1901) was a Spanish politician, essayist and historian of federal republican ideology. President of the Spanish First Republic. As an intellectual he devoted himself essentially to history, philosophy and art. He is considered one of the most advanced intellectuals of the second half of the 19th century. He wrote a multitude of works and was editor and editor of several newspapers. He had contact with the great figures of the European intelligentsia of the time, which earned him an enormous reputation in Spain and abroad.
