The bindings are in very good condition, books in their green half leather (discoloured to brown), top of the spine of the 1st volume is torn on 2 cm, some light rubbing on the bindings, smooth spines with title and volume number labels, central compartments adorned with an Imperial Eagle surrounded by floral volutes, marbled edges.
Good condition inside, scattered foxing and irregularities in the paper that don’t affect reading the book, charming tipped-in engravings, portraits in frontispiece, 6 fold-out maps and 50 plates of portraits, maps and views.
