Collection of two fine engravings by Pieter Clouwet after Abraham Diepenbeeck.

Peeter Clouwet, Cloüet o Clouvet ( Antwerp , 1629-1670) was a Flemish burin and drypoint engraver. Enrolled as an apprentice in the Guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp in 1643/1644, in the 1645/46 course he was registered as a teacher and elected dean for the period 1666/67. On May 18, 1652, he married Jacobmijne Bouttats, daughter of Frederik Bouttats I , thus becoming related to an influential and numerous family of artists and engravers. He died on April 29, 1670, being buried in the cathedral of Antwerp. His cousin could have been the also engraver, established in Italy, Albert Clouwet.

Plates ca 22.2 x 15.1 cm. Both plates trimmed to edges and flush mounted on card (early 18th Century).

Manuscript title to top margin. Mounting boards with tear.

Provenience: From the Swiss 18th Century collection of Bullinger.
