large 4to , 28 x 23 cm ,1st Edition, contemporary tree calf boards, a bir worn as from photo, with renewed later spine, raised bands.
2 volumes, pp.viii, 576; pp.[2], 577-1132. With 2 plates showing various apparatus and 2 tables of useful Chemical symbols, at the rear of volume II ( although note to the binder mentions 5 plates).Titles on red labels on each spine. All edges in blue and grey. Internally pretty fresh , crisp and clean.However, present au usual some thumbing, browning and foxing.. Very good. The first Dictionary of Chemistry to be published by an English scientist.

This work is vital as one of the earliest English versions of the table of the new chemical nomenclature from the "Méthode de nomenclature chimique "(Paris, 1787) by Lavoisier (Neville). It includes chapters on ores, zinc, iron, lead and other metals as well as on metals in general.
